Download a Trial Copy

You can download Lexi free of charge and try it out for 25 games. Almost all of the game's features are available in trial mode - the only limitations are that your achievements won't go into the high scores table and you won't be able to shut down Lexi in the middle of a game and resume it the next time you open the program.

If you like the game, you can buy it from one of the outlets listed on the How to Buy It page.

Whether you like Lexi Word Game or not, please let me know your thoughts. Or better still, share them with the world by posting a review on Wireless Gaming Review or GetJar.com.

There are two ways you can download Lexi:

Direct to the Phone (Over the Air Provisioning)

For most people, this will be the most convenient method. The only prerequisite is that your phone be set up for WAP services.

Just open your phone's browser (Services menu on many phones) and go to address http://wap.lexigame.com/ and follow the "Download trial copy" link.

Alternatively, you can download the trial version from GetJar.com. Visit their website or go to the wap site, http://wap.getjar.com/, on your phone, follow the "Quick Download" link and enter Quick Download code 154.

If your phone is not set up for WAP, you can contact your phone network operator to see if it is available. If you have a mobile phone that can run Java software, the chances are that it can also connect to the WAP network.

WAP is probably not really useful for many things, but downloading software is one task where WAP comes in handy. Generally it costs nothing to get it set up: you only pay for it to the extent that you use it. Check with your phone company to find out their prices for the WAP service. Downloading a 62 kilobyte program like Lexi probably costs about the same as a short phone call.

Via a Computer

Getting the software to your computer is the easy part. Just save these two files to disk (right click and choose "Save Target As...". "Save Link As..." or "Save Link Target As..."):

lexi101g.jad (< 1K)
lexi101g.jar (63K)

The hard part is getting Lexi from the computer to the phone. The two methods I know of are infrared link and data cable.

To transfer data via infrared you need hardware and software.

If you received a data cable with your phone, you probably got some data transfer software as well, so you might be all set up. Unfortunately, mobile phones do not normally come with a data cable. You have to buy the cable separately, and they are surprisingly expensive. And since each cable is suitable for only a few models of phone, you might not think it would be a good investment.
